New Vice President, General Manager

Phoenix Contact USA appoints Doug Peterson as the company’s new vice president and general manager.

  • Peterson joins Phoenix Contact after 19 years at GE Fanuc Automation, where he held a variety of sales and leadership positions, both in the field and at the company’s headquarters in Charlottesville, VA.
  • Most recently, he served as vice president of sales for GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms.

CAD Industry Veteran Publishes History Of Computer Aided Design

Cyon Research Corporation announces the release of The Engineering Design Revolution - The People, Companies and Computer Systems That Changed Forever the Practice of Engineering, David E. Weisberg's new book on the history of the computer-aided design (CAD) industry.

  • Weisberg started the history project when he recognized that we were losing the pioneers of the industry.

Company Welcomes Operations Manager

W. Scott Baker has been selected Whitney Tool’s first operations manager, responsible for production and facilities.

  • This will include implementation of ISO 9001 quality systems, with which he has extensive experience at Visteon Automotive Systems.
  • He began at Whitney Tool on June 16.

Laser Technology To Build Ships

The MEYER WERFT, which is in the process of expanding its production capacity, has commissioned TRUMPF to deliver two TruDisk 10003’s and a TruFlow 12000.

  • The shipbuilder, based in Papenburg, Germany, will use the two disk lasers and the CO2 laser to expand the existing laser welding systems.
  • It will also use the TruDisk 10003 disk laser to weld I-joints.

Agreement For Reverse Engineering

ReverseEngineering.com, providers of CAD integrated reverse engineering software for measurement, inspection, 3D digitizing, and scanning physical objects, has entered into an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) agreement with SolidWorks Corporation, manufacturer of SolidWorks® 3D CAD Software.

Class 2 Approval

PennEngineering® has been approved by the Defense Logistics Agency as a supplier of Class 2 threaded fasteners in accordance with the stringent QSLM (Qualified Suppliers List of Manufacturers) program. 

  • This along with the Class 3 approval awarded in 2007 authorizes PennEngineering to fulfill government contracts which specify PEM® brand threaded fasteners and Atlas® brand threaded inserts.
  • Under the QSLM program, manufacturers are qualified, based on an assessment of their applied process controls and compliance with specific QSL criteria.
