Lightweight Accelerometer

An ultra-miniature ceramic shear accelerometer, the Type 8778A500 for general vibration measurements is suitable in small, lightweight structures. Weighing 29 g, the physical size is much smaller than the 10-32 electrical connector that terminates the end of integral coaxial cable used to conduct power and signal.

The accelerometer features vibration measurement sensitivity of 10 mV/g with a measuring range of 0 to 500 g and a 5 percent frequency response of 2 to 9,000 Hz. The unit's construction combines a titanium housing and a hard anodized aluminum base which provides ground isolation. The piezo-ceramic sensing element oriented in a shear mode configuration provides immunity to base bending and thermal influences.
