Phoenix Contact’s Steeplechase Visual Logic Controller (VLC) software now offers integration with the SynqNet™ motion network when used with a RapidCode VLC driver. According to Phoenix, a SynqNet-based system with Steeple-chase VLC and the RapidCode VLC driver can control up to 256 axes of motion from a Steeplechase VLC runtime program.SynqNet offers synchronized, plug-and-play motion devices from a range of servo manufacturers. The company believes Steeplechase VLC, with integrated SynqNet, can simplify development and eliminate the need to purchase, learn and maintain multiple programming packages due to its ease-of-use programming environment for real-time motion control. The company says the integrated PC-based networked control also eradicates problematic analog wiring and intricate handshaking between PCs, standalone controllers and motor amplifiers.
The RapidCode VLC driver, developed by Robotic Systems Integration, provides VLC programmers with a common set of system motion commands, while pre-defined axis I/O provides typical axis status information. SynqNet uses the standard Ethernet IEE802.3 physical layer for robust isolation and 100-M cable lengths with a deterministic protocol engineered by Danaher Motion. Furthermore, SynqNet creates system modularity, HotReplace™ service without downtime, remote diagnostics, software field upgrades, multi-vendor support and fault-tolerant safety.
