Improved High-accuracy Load Cell

An improved version of the Mass Monitor moment-insensitive load cell for OEMs includes software enhancements that give selectable resolution and display updates, as well as expanded calibration options. The load cell promises high resolution and a weighing accuracy of 10 ppm, which is said to be 10 times better than that of conventional strain-gauge technology. Based on a patented variable-capacitance sensor and custom electronics, the cell is available in weighing capacities from 200 g to 50 kg. The unit, which provides a digital signal, includes a weighing platform and optional display board. The accompanying electronics automatically linearizes and compensates the load cell’s output signal for temperature. The circuit includes a display connector and an RS-233 serial interface for communicating with a control device or indicator. Suited for a wide range of a applications, including automotive, asphalt manufacture, and parts fabrication, the Mass Monitor is built to withstand the rigors of continuous use in an industrial environment. Moreover, it is installed with just three bolts on virtually any scale base or other weight bearing structure.
