High-speed Backplane Connector

The Tempus-HS 400 Series 2-mm backplane connector is designed as a 100-ohm differential-pair signal transmission line that can handle data rates up to 10 Gbits/sec in a large backplane.

The connector features a 0.5-mm plated through-hole that is engineered to reduce capacitance and keep crosstalk to under 5 percent and insertion loss to less than 1 dB for data rates above 5 Gbits/sec.

A differentially tuned lead frame with wide ground planes is designed to improve signal isolation and reduce signal reflections, while short signal tuning forks shorten the electrical length of the overall mating interface.

Tempus-HS 400 connectors are end-to-end stackable with other Tempus products and mate with HS 1000 and HS 2000 products. The connector comes in eight- and five-row standard and wide-body versions and sells for 16 to 20 cents per mated line, depending on configuration and plating.
