High-frequency Test Sockets

RF test sockets for CSP/BGA devices with 0.5-1.27 mm pitch combine good electrical characteristics with reliable contacts and long cycle life.

The high-performance spring probe contact provides more than 500,000 insertion/withdrawal cycles with no loss of contact force or increase in contact resistance. For optimum performance, the sockets provide a short signal path of only 0.098 in. for 1 and 1.27 mm pitch packages. Self-inductance is 0.62 nH, and contact resistance is 30 mohms after 500,000 cycles. Propagation delay is only 45 picosec, and capacitance is 0.45 pF. Contact force is 30 g at an operating position of 0.98 in. Both hinged sockets for manual applications and double-latched lid versions for automated operation are available in Torlon or PEEK bodies with gold-plated spring probe and stainless steel hardware.

Pricing for 289-position BGA versions is $2,553 each in quantities of four pieces.
