Yaskawa Electric America, Inc. introduces the new J1000 AC drive. The drive may be the world’s smallest compact drive in size (70% less space required), but it is still very capable of providing outstanding quality, reliability and performance. According to the company, the drive exhibits:

  • Quality of design stemming partially from a reduction in the number of parts, therefore resulting in an increased Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) rate of an impressive 28 years.
  • Craftsmanship of design increasing the lifetime of components such as fans, capacitors and thermal optimization.
  • Reduced cost of ownership is achieved by the compact design, side-by-side mounting and the ability to operate a larger motor with the normal duty rating.
  • Overexcitation braking, which reduces stop times without the need for external braking resistors.
  • A standard internal braking transistor for even faster stopping.
  • Ability for both hardware and software peripherals such as DriveWizardTMPlus and the USB Copy Unit (Y-Stick) may be used. This will allow for file storage that can be used to program multiple drives quickly or for future back-up use. Maintainability by lifetime monitors that continuously monitor the health of the key components.
  • Availability from 1/8 to 7.5 HP.
  • Voltage classes of 200-240V single-phase, 200-240V three-phase, and 380-480V three-phase, all of which are 50/60 Hz.
  • An open loop V/f control with a speed range of 40:1, both a normal (120% overload for 60 sec.) and heavy duty (150% overload for 60 sec.) rating, a starting torque of 150% at 3Hz, a 5-digit LED keypad, increased vibration resistance from 20Hz to 50Hz and a swing PWM function to decrease audible motor noise.
  • An output frequency of 0-400 Hz, Modbus communication at up to 38.4 kbps, a short circuit current rating of 30 kA rms symmetrical, an ingenious pre-maintenance function, a preferred parameter feature and “no tools required” cooling fan replacement.
  • Ideal use for major applications of industries such as material handling, food and beverage, fan and pump control, packaging, agricultural machines and industrial washers.
  • CE, UL and cUL global certification approval as well as keeping the environment safe by being RoHS compliant.
