Flat-panel Display Interface

The AD9883ABST flat-panel display interface is said to be the first device of its kind to come in a version that operates over the industrial temperature range of -40° to +85°C. The extended temperature range makes the interface suitable for use with displays that must work in wide temperature ranges, such as in automotive and aerospace applications.

The interface is optimized for XGA and SXGA LCD displays, high-definition television, and advanced television applications. Its architecture is compatible with LCD, plasma, projection, and other types of display technologies.

The AD9883ABST features three high-bandwidth, 8-bit, 140-Msample/sec analog-to-digital converters, and an ultralow-jitter (less than 500 ps at 140 MHz) phase locked loop. Among the functions the chip performs are composite sync processing, midscale clamping, input signal detection, automatic power-down control, and programmable gain and offset control. The AD9883ABST flat-panel interface comes in an 80-pin LQFP package. It is also available in commercial temperature versions. The starting price is $8.50 each in 1,000-piece quantities.
