Facility Focuses On Portable Power Design Innovation

New Nexergy structure created to gain market advantage in development and delivery of battery packs and chargers

Nexergy, a manufacturer of battery packs and chargers, has created the battery industry's only dedicated facility focused on portable power design innovation

Nexergy is a designer, integrator and manufacturer of battery packs and chargers that enable electronic products to be more dependable, smaller, lighter and longer-running.

Nexergy, a manufacturer of battery packs and chargers, has created the battery industry's only dedicated facility focused on portable power design innovation. The new facility, located in Denver, CO, is part of a new organizational structure established to accelerate and streamline the company's design innovation and production functions.

The company has created two functional units, with one unit dedicated to all aspects of product design and technology improvement and the second unit focused on providing a positive customer experience in the supply of batteries and chargers from initial order to on-time delivery.

"Our focus as a company is to create innovative portable power designs for our OEM customers within their time requirements and then hand those designs off to a manufacturing organization that delivers defect-free products on time, anywhere in the world our customers need them," explains Nexergy's President and CEO Phil Glandon. "Now, our most creative design engineers can focus on advanced battery technology innovation, and our manufacturing team can focus on daily customer fulfillment tasks in a way that drives efficiency and value for the customer and doesn't take away time or resources from our innovation team."

The decision to create the new structure came after the January 2008 merger of Nexergy and ElectriTek AVT. Glandon says his company's deep engineering base and expanding customer roster provide the resources to support the new structure.

Nexergy's sales, marketing and the expanded new product design and development group will be headquartered in Denver, CO, led by Nexergy Executive Vice President John Costa.

The company is currently in the process of recruiting engineers to staff the New Product Design and Development Center, which will be fully operational in the fourth quarter of 2008.

"John's team is a dedicated group of professionals focused on producing the most innovative designs possible to meet our customers' needs for smaller, lighter, longer-lasting portable power," Glandon says.

The production/fulfillment side of Nexergy’s business is responsible for managing the manufacturing organization, quality, purchasing and global logistics. To increase efficiency and align manufacturing capacity with needs, Nexergy will transfer all of its Colorado manufacturing lines to Columbus or San Diego, CA, by the end of the year. Directing this side of the business is Chief Operating Officer Joe Dougherty.

"Joe's group," Glandon says, "will be focused on providing battery packs and chargers to our customers with the highest quality and value, delivered when and where they are needed, anywhere in the world."

With more than 20 years of experience, Nexergy is a designer, integrator and manufacturer of battery packs and chargers that enable electronic products to be more dependable, smaller, lighter and longer-running.
