The MSC1200, a one-chip data-acquisition system, combines a 24-bit sigma-delta A/D converter, enhanced 8051 processor core, flash memory, internal oscillator, and multiple high-performance peripherals.
The enhanced 8051 core runs three times faster and consumes less power than a standard version. Two sizes of flash memory (4 Kbytes and 8 Kbytes) are available, and both are pin and function compatible. The system has a 75-nV noise figure, a 1-KSa/sec.sampling, and dissipates 3 mW
Additional on-chip analog functions include a flexible 8-channel multiplexer, phase-lock loop, burn-out detector, selectable buffered input, offset D/A converter, programmable gain of up to 128, selectable data-output rate, programmable single-cycle settling filter, precision voltage reference, temperature sensor, and low-voltage detector and brown-out reset.
Digital functions, besides the 8051 and flash memory, include a 128-byte SRAM, four I/O ports, 32-bit accumulator/shifter, UART, two timer-counters, I2C and SPI interfaces, and watchdog timer.
.The MSC1200 comes in a TQFP-48 package and operates from a 2.7-V to 5.25-V supply. The 4-Kbyte flash version has a suggested resale price of $5.95; the 8-Kbyte version, $6.45.
