
3 winners from across the globe chosen for design excellence
Richardson, TX – Alibre announces the results of the 2009 Design Contest, a long running competition to find some of the best designs and designers using Alibre Design 3D CAD software.
Hundreds of submissions later, the final few have risen to the top. Finalists were chosen on a variety of factors, from model complexity to manufacturability and use of all of Alibre Design’s features.
“The breadth of the variety of submissions was amazing. Our customers are using Alibre Design in almost every capacity and industry,” says Paul Grayson, Alibre Chairman and CEO.

“From scale models of trains to race car design to lighting fixtures to mechanical sculptures and huge industrial machines, we saw it all.”
The Alibre customer base had the final say. After tallying the votes, Alibre is happy to announce the top three designs.

1st place: “Econotruder” from Keith Lindner. |
1st place - $1000 - “Econotruder” - From: Keith Lindner.
- Location: Indiana, USA.
- What it is: An economical extrusion machine, which anyone could build using off the shelf parts and electronics.
- 2nd place - $500 - Grinding Machine
- From: Peter Schild, profiltec GmbH.
- Location: Germany.
- What it is: A machine for fully automatic profile grinding.
- 3rd place - $250 - Road going bike-engine race car
- From: Ian Baldwin, BDN Sportcars.
- Location: UK.
- What it is: Race car designed for the 750 Motor Club RGB Championship (UK national club championship) for the purpose of retaining the RGB championship currently held by the car’s predecessor.
