
PTC to offer comprehensive modeling suite.
PTC, the Product Development Company®, recently announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire
CoCreate Software GmbH, a provider of PLM and CAD modeling solutions for approximately $250 million. CoCreate, based in Sindelfingen, Germany, is privately held, has 280 employees and more than 5,000 customers globally.
With the acquisition of CoCreate, PTC will broaden its portfolio and offer support for the most comprehensive range of modeling techniques in the MCAD industry. PTC plans to integrate the CoCreate modeling solutions with the PTC Product Development System (PDS) in order to offer CoCreate customers additional product development capabilities including engineering calculations, dynamic publishing, visualization, high-speed machining, and enterprise content and process management, and ultimately, the option of using their modeling solutions also as part of the PTC PDS.
The acquisition is expected to close in December 2007, subject to customary conditions including regulatory approval.
PTC plans to finance the acquisition and related expenses with a combination of $50 million of cash and $210 million of debt from its existing credit facility.
Simrit acquires Precision Industries Corp.
Simrit, a division of Freudenberg-NOK, has announced the acquisition of the assets of
Precision Industries Corp. of Germantown, WI, a developer and manufacturer of specialized custom diaphragms. Terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.
Precision was established in 1986 as a manufacturer of diaphragms, specializing in fabric-reinforced diaphragms for small engines, fuel systems, irrigation, gaseous fuels, pneumatic controls and medical regulators.
Precision’s product capabilities include custom diaphragms made of rubber, rubber-fabric combinations and specialty materials, as well as diaphragms and gaskets die-cut from coated fabrics. The company’s designs also encompass insert-molded diaphragms and over-molded diaphragms, but their distinction is in assembling specialized diaphragms. Using state-of-the-art equipment, including PLC controlled presses, 3-D modeling systems and robust manufacturing software, they optimize processes to bring customers diaphragm solutions which are both robust and cost-efficient.

austriamicrosystems, a global designer and manufacturer of high performance analog ICs for communications, industrial, medical and automotive applications, and
IDS Microchip, a provider of flexible RFID and sensors silicon system solutions, have partnered to develop an innovative UHF RFID reader IC targeted at the portable RFID reader market.
According to the companies, the UHF RFID readers would be used to interrogate Gen 2 RFID tags, the latest generation of RFID tag technology, allowing contactless identification of goods or materials in a broad range of applications.
