Cad Industry Veteran Publishes History Of Computer Aided Design

The Engineering Design Revolution by David Weisberg, Cyon Research Chief Industry Strategist, available at cadhistory.net

Cyon Research Corporation announces the release of The Engineering Design Revolution - The People, Companies and Computer Systems That Changed Forever the Practice of Engineering, David E. Weisberg's new book on the history of the computer-aided design (CAD) industry.

Weisberg started the history project when he recognized that we were losing the pioneers of the industry. He took up the task of interviewing those pioneers, and the result, five years later, is an engaging history covering more than 60 years of CAD technology starting with the development of numerical control tooling in the mid-1940s at MIT, through the early days of academic research and an in-depth discussion of the companies and people who made this industry a reality.

"Dave's work with this book represents a lifetime of involvement and passion for the CAD market,” says Dr. Jon Peddie, president of Jon Peddie Research. “No one is better qualified to cover this topic and present it in such a readable fashion."

According to Dr. Joel Orr who wrote the book's forward: "Dave's book is at once a personal history, replete with vignettes that are the stuff of life; a history of the birth, infancy, adolescence, and maturity of a family of technologies; and a record of the sea changes that have happened in engineering as a result of those technologies. In short-a feast for CAD old-timers, engineering educators, and young engineers alike."

The book is downloadable in PDF format at no charge at cadhistory.net. Weisberg is requesting that readers consider contributing to the Cancer League of Colorado Foundation in recognition of the value the 650 page book.
