CAD/CAM Integration
With hyperMILL® V9.7, OPEN MIND Technologies can now offer SolidWorks® users an integrated solution with Pro/ENGINEER® Wildfire™, Autodesk® Inventor™, thinkdesign® and hyperCAD® 2007.1

hyperMILL® V9.7 offers reduced programming efforts with feature recognition, automatic mapping of hole and pocket features, a feature list, a feature browser, macro technology and a macro database.

With the release of hyperMILL® V9.7, OPEN MIND Technologies can now offer SolidWorks® users an integrated solution with Pro/ENGINEER® Wildfire™, Autodesk® Inventor™, thinkdesign® and hyperCAD® 2007.1. Users of these software versions can access all of hyperMILL's functional benefits.

According to the company, the advantage provided by CAD-integrated CAM solutions is that they make continuous process chains a reality. With the ability to use both CAD and CAM systems, which access the same pool of data, a uniform data model can be used during both the design and manufacturing processes to ensure accuracy and transparency, and to prevent errors. The company believes hyperMILL offers users:

  • An array of strategies for 2-D, 3-D, high-speed cutting and five-axis machining, in addition to a milling and turning package, in one user interface.
  • Reduced programming efforts with feature recognition, automatic mapping of hole and pocket features, a feature list, a feature browser, macro technology and a macro database.
  • Post-processors tailored to specific machines, controllers and manufacturing processes to ensure CAM programs are processed seamlessly.
  • Workspace monitoring to check in advance whether a machining job can be performed within a given workspace or whether limit switches will be crossed.
  • A "best fit" function to automatically optimize machining with a view to the available workspace.
